A few years back, I cashed out a collection of over three-hundred 1/12 scale Black Series Star Wars figures. I just looked at the shelves one day and decided I didn't love them anymore- it was time for someone else to. I had no idea I was going to fall straight into the money pit that is Hot Toys' 1/6 scale Star Wars line.
Eventually, I noticed my monthly preorder payment total was A LOT. I had to find a way to mitigate some of that cost. See, I believe nothing exceeds quite like excess, so cancelling orders was simply out of the question. I found a number of active sixth-scale communities on Facebook, where folks bought and sold daily. I figured if I could flip a few figures here and there, I could take a bite out of my monthly spend and STILL be able to afford all those figures that I never seem to take out of their boxes.
That's how I got into this whole mess. After two years, I'm the proud papa of a peerless reputation in more than twenty groups. Apparently I love being buried in shipping labels and boxes, so I graduated to dealing parts. This site is the fruit of that madness.
What are Customs?
Ohhh man, here we go. Anyone will tell you that rushing to preorder the moment a fig goes live, then posing and displaying your grails is only half of the hobby. The other half is tearing down a fig you just paid $300 for, and using the parts to customize and build your own figure. Hot Toys may have just announced they're producing the Mandalorian Disguise version of Obi-Wan Kenobi today, but those of us in the know made our own YEARS ago.
Do you buy used figures?
Absolutely. Don't tell anyone, but I think that the main reason I do this is for the dopamine rush I get from negotiating and closing a deal. If you've got complete, incomplete, or damaged figs- heck, or even just have a bunch of fodder (parts) laying around, give us a shout.
